Studying music at Roots School of music, will help students learn how to read music and apply that knowledge to playing their instrument. It is curriculum approach learning and caters to different learning styles. All students are engaged and are assessed through performance within the classroom and/or a small group.
Meet Our Instructor

Juan Francisco Mendoza
also known as “Pancho,” is a certified educator with over 23 years of experience working with students and adult learners of all ages. As a dedicated music instructor, he has been teaching guitar in both private and group settings for more than two decades.
In addition to his teaching career, Juan is an accomplished musician, songwriter, and performer. He is the founder of Fixed Idea, a pioneering punk band from El Paso, and brings over 33 years of live performance and songwriting experience to his teaching. His extensive background in both education and music allows him to connect with students on a personal level, inspiring growth, creativity, and confidence.
Pancho believes music is a powerful gift meant to be shared, and he is passionate about helping others discover their own voice through music.
